House at Crouch End

This project is a house for a young family in North London. It was converted from a run down building of seven bed-sits, each with a small bathroom and kitchen. The client wished for the house to be an informal place for their children to grow up in, while also being a backdrop for their extensive modern art collection.
In addition to remodelling and extending the house, the practice was commissioned to design an art installation for the double-height bay window to the street side. An array of eighty delicate plates of acid-etched nickel silver were hung from floor to ceiling to conceal the kitchen and living areas from public view, while still letting in a calm, dappled light.
