This is a typical small Georgian terrace house in Islington. The client wanted to adapt the house to become more interesting spatially and more suitable for contemporary living. This brief gave scope for us to design a spacious open plan arrangement on the lower two floors with a generous double height space and a top-lit extension into the original outside courtyard.

Into the new enlarged living area, we inserted three substantial silver objects: a double height box for the dining room, a free-standing kitchen unit and a storage wall containing the pantry and utility room.
