On the 18th September Níall and Dr Yeoryia Manolopoulou (Professor of Architecture and Experimental Practice at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London) are giving a public lecture at the British School at Rome entitled On Drawing. Niall McLaughlin Architects’ housing project in Whitechapel for the Peabody Trust will start on site at the end of the month. The project makes use of an infill site on the existing Victorian Peabody Trust estate. The scheme completes the courtyard enclosure formed by the existing blocks whilst retaining ‘open corners’. This strategy prompts easy pedestrian access and views between the courtyard and surrounding streets.
