This is a house for a young family in North London. It was converted from a run down building of seven bed-sits, each with a small bathroom and kitchen. The client wished for the house to be an informal place for their children to grow up in while also being a backdrop for their extensive modern art collection.
In addition to the remodelling and extending of the house, we were commissioned to design an art installation for the double height bay window to the street side. 80 delicate plates of acid-etched nickel silver were hung in an array to conceal the kitchen and living areas from the public while still letting calm dappled light in.
