The project was commissioned to commemorate the school’s centenary year. The brief was to breathe life and diversity into this clearing in the heart of London. The design consists of three main inserts that baffle the edges of the existing recreational campus. These create contrasting spaces for the boys, teachers and parents to gather in varying formations. The flexibility of the spaces are appropriate for the wide range of school activities on offer.
The practice ensured that the school community was involved from the outset and the pupils helped to develop the brief through a series of workshops. The project ensured the highest level of child health and safety protection and prioritised the school’s tight time and budget parameters.
