King's Square, Gloucester: We won the RIBA international competition to design King's Square in Gloucester. We worked with Churchman Landscape Architects and the artist Martin Richman. The scheme is designed around the idea of collecting water from rooftops around the area, storing it in a cistern and reusing it to create a changeable atmosphere in the square. The water is used as ice, mist, spray and pools. It is a celebration of our lovely wet weather. Images from this competition will be on this website shortly. • Timber Wharf: We have been appointed to design a new mixed-use development at Timber Wharf in Bristol. The buildings will overlook the iconic SS Great Britain ship, built by Brunel in 1865. This is a heritage site of national importance. • C4D: We also won a competition to design the C4D building for Cranfield University. Intended as a landmark project, it will bring together designers, researchers, industry and artists in a unique collaborative environment. • Screens Essay: A new book, AD Proto Architecture: Analogue and Digital Hybrids, edited by Bob Sheil, has been published. It includes an extended essay by Niall on the use of screens in the work of our practice. |
