The new Arts Council England offices in Exeter were designed to encourage creativity by using open spaces to facilitate internal communication, as well as bringing in daylight and minimising clutter.
The 60 individual workstations are complemented by eight communal spaces, all with easy access to both ‘open filing’ and ‘closed filing’ - an illuminated storage wall fabricated by bespoke joinery and ‘Macrolon’. The ceiling fins are dual purpose - to conceal services, and to diffuse and spread natural light into the workspaces.
Being an arts organisation, the client was interested in collaborating with an artist. Interviews were held, and Huw Milner, an installation artist, was chosen to collaborate with us. On the basis of this partnership, a live broadcast of the skyscape is screened in the reception area, and each employee has a personal ringtone which comes together as an office symphony. |
